To My British Suitor... (If there'll be any..)

To my dear lovely (insert name of future suitor here),

I think we have gotten to know each other a little more and come to understand each other's feelings since you took me out on our first date a few days ago. Also, I want to thank you for the dinner you set up. When you asked me out for a date, I couldn't help but say "YES" because I really like you and I've been daydreaming of you asking me out for dinner. I want you to know that I have liked you ever since I saw you in our school in London. The dinner was wonderful. I hope we can go on another brilliant date, just like the previous one.

For me, I'm starting to feel that I'm very special to you as you're special to me. Judging in your way of sending me gifts, your manners and attitude towards me, your gentlemanship, your looks, and you, yourself, you may win my heart. You're very outgoing and witty, and cheeky, with a good sense of humor- which I really love about you. I just want you to know that whenever I see you, butterflies start to come inside my stomach. I feel stupid and blush a lot when you look at me from across the classroom. I don't know what words to say when you talk to me. I can't control myself from staring at you staring at me. You and your beautiful curls, those tantalizing green orbs of yours, those dimples that I've been staring at whenever you talk to me, and your passionate smile make me distracted. Anyway, this is all your fault. Your beautiful eyes are always staring at me and make me smile like an idiot.

When you asked me to be your first and last girlfriend, I can't help but blush a lot. I think I'll accept your offer, since you have proven your love for me by just being you; and that's what I love about you. I can't explain why I love you this much. I can't say that it's because of your looks and cheekiness, those are included though. I really can't say why I love you, I just don't know why.

Let's meet up at the same place where we had our first date and wait for me there. Don't be impatient. Just wait for me and I'm gonna tell you what my answer will be, "Yes" or "No". You know, I really love you but I have to ask my family first and it seems to me that they all approve. They are starting to like you too. I hope you keep it up. I love you, (insert name of future suitor here)! Xx

What Will You Choose?

Mastery of your mother tongue, or the fluency of the English language? What will you choose? Which do you prefer? Many people think of these as choices. But you should balance these two aspects. None of these aspects is better that the other. Let's look at the benefits of the fluency of the English language and the mastery of the mother tongue:

Fluency of the English Language: Getting jobs and in communication. When you try to get a job, especially when the companies deal with international clients, you should learn how to speak in English clearly and fluently. That's because English is the world language. If you do not know how to speak in English, you will have lower chances in getting jobs in other countries. And if you don't know how to speak in English, how can you communicate with different people around the world?

Mastery of the Mother Tongue: This is really important. We should know our own language and must not forget it. We must maintain it because the language helps us value our culture and heritage. This is what makes us unique and have our own identity. Also, when the native language is not maintained, important links to family members may be lost.

It may be hard to choose from the two, but for me, we must balance both to keep our native culture and heritage alive in ourselves, and to be fluent in speaking the world language.

To be or not to be, That is the Question.

To be or not to be, that is the question.
Study or not, do well in recitation
To care enough to do my obligation
And aim toward 2014 graduation.

To be or not to be, that is the question.
Multimedia arts, chef or veterinarian,
Stewardess, forensics, designer for homes
All these stuff, will I or will I not perform?

To be or not to be, that is the question.
As early as now I’ve thought of application
Will I also play with peoples’ emotion?
Will I be in the presidential election?

Intramurals-- Helpful or Not?

Are sports activities in schools, or we usually call "intramurals" helpful to us students? Sports activities help students in a lot of ways. Like...

In a physical way: Sports activities encourage students to engage in sports and to be physically fit. These activities make the students stronger and healthier. These will help the students in removing the extra fat or carbohydrates from their bodies by participating and being active in the field of sports. Events like these contribute a lot the the physical fitness and wellness of a student.

In a mental way: Not only can sports activities make a student physically fit and healthy, but sports activities can also enhance the mental capacity of the brain. Sports can enhance the brain by making the student/s think of strategies or ways in which they can win against the other team/s. For example, in basketball, the players must find a way to catch up on their points. Sports also contribute to the mental alertness. Sports are not all about physical abilities but are also about the mental abilities of students.

In a social and emotional way: Students learn to socialize, deal and cooperate with one another through sports. For example, in a sack race, the students must help each other in arranging the team in order, whether it is from the slowest to the fastest, etc. We also learn a lot from sports like camaraderie, teamwork, and the most important, sportsmanship. Activities like this can also shape our emotions towards our successes and failures.

Intramurals may just last a few days. But, even if it's just for a couple of days, we students learn a lot from it, which we can apply to our daily lives.

The Earth Is Our Home

All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord God made them all

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings
He made their glowing colors,
He made those tiny wings

Ever since I was a small child, probably about 3 years old, I declaimed this poem by Cecil Frances Alexander; and I never forgot a single word of it up to this day. When I got older, I realized that in this poem, the poet describes what the world is to her and how she describes how great God is. That He made a place-- a very nice place, indeed, for us to live in. It shows that by His creation, we realize how awesome He is; from the organization of the tiniest of cells up to the galaxies in the solar system. And God told us to use them properly and take really good care of it. The Earth is our home.

But sometimes our use of the natural resources is neglected. We don't realize that Mother Nature is being harmed by the use of dynamites, poisonous substances, and pollution of land, water, and air. Right now, because of our carelessness in our use of the resources, we are all in great danger. Nature also affects us in every way. From the benefits we get from it, and the benefits that it gets from us. When we harm them, they also harm us. We are stewards of nature. God entrusted us with it and use it for our own needs.

When we cut a tree, we should plant a new tree. When we throw garbage or waste, we must make sure that we should segregate it properly. Yes, we cannot control the weather or the natural calamities, but we can help preventing the flash floods and landslides and other dangers out there by just being good and responsible caretakers of Mother Nature.

♫♪ I see trees of green, red roses too.. I see 'em bloom, for me and you... And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world...
I see skies of blue, clouds of white.. Bright blessed days, dark sacred nights... And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world...
The colors of a rainbow, so pretty in the sky.. Are also on the faces of people going by... I see friends shaking hands, saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying, "I love you"
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow.. They learn much more, than I'll never know... And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world... ♪♫♪

Our world is indeed, wonderful. According to Louis Armstrong, the world is a beautiful place and some people just miss the beauty because they are too busy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the things around them. Louis Armstrong made the lyrics of this song very optimistic and joyful. It tells us to always look forward to tomorrow with optimism and hopefulness. Some people just care about the material things and don't realize the happiness and joyfulness around them. Even rich people, even with their money and all that, can't be happy and they can't even appreciate the blessings that they have. They should be happy and be thankful that they are able to see the beauty in their surroundings and they can see their children grow . This song points out that little things can make a person happy. It's the little things that make life so special and meaningful.

My Romeo and Juliet Ending

Romeo and Juliet-- one of the greatest classical stories ever written. One of William Shakespeare's best works in the history of his life. It is a story between two teenage lovers whose families are mortal enemies or rivals of each other. Because of their love for each other, Romeo, the eighteen year old son of the Montague family; and Juliet, the fourteen year old daughter of the Capulet family, were secretly married. The ending of Romeo and Juliet is a very tragic and heartbreaking ending because when Romeo and Juliet committed suicide, that's when the Montagues and Capulets declared peace between their families. Unlike the stories nowadays, this is one of those stories which doesn't have a "happily ever after" ending for the lovers.

My classmates and I absolutely loved the story of Romeo and Juliet. The series of events that Shakespeare put is incredible. You don't know what will happen next, and you will expect the unexpected; from the moment when Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other up to their death. We all felt the same when we finished the story-- if only we could kill their parents! It is so annoying, and heartbreaking, and, and, asdfjklasdk, I can't explain the feeling! If I were asked and given an opportunity to change the ending, I would put a "happily ever after". I want it to be like this:

When Friar Lawrence sent the letter to Romeo via Friar John, Romeo didn't get the letter. But when Balthasar told Romeo that Juliet is dead, Romeo and Balthasar immediately left, bought poison from an apothecary, and went to Verona. Meanwhile in the graveyard, Paris was there with his servant. Then Paris heard a noise and left right away (he got scared of the noise). The noise turned out to be Friar Lawrence (he was hiding behind the bushes)-- who was going to get Juliet out of the grave. A few minutes later, Romeo arrived and wept over Juliet's grave. Because of his great sadness, and thinking that Juliet is dead, Romeo held the bottle of poison; and when he was about to drink it, Friar Lawrence stopped him. He explained everything that they have planned-- about the potion, and Juliet being "dead" for forty-two hours. After explaining all these things to Romeo, Romeo's face enlightened with happiness and hope. After a while, they heard a noise from the Juliet's grave. Friar Lawrence told Romeo to get Juliet and escape to a very far place that their parents would think they wouldn't have been. Then Friar Lawrence gave them a potion that will make them look very different from their faces as their disguises. This potion will last for 34 hours. Romeo and Juliet bid farewell to Friar Lawrence and they followed his instructions carefully. When they got to the place where they are not known, they stayed there. After a year, they had children. And Romeo and Juliet lived happily ever after.
The End.

My Friend, My Treasure

Old memories are coming back to me
They're making me feel truly happy
Each little memory I treasure dearly
For they are about you, a person I cherish so deeply.

In my sleepless solitude tonight
I can't seem to keep you off of my mind
Memories of you are shining like a light
I want to hug you with all my might

There are a lot of things with which I am blessed
Though my life's been both sunny and blue
But of all my blessings, this one is the best:
That is, to have a friend like you.

In times of trouble will say, "Just ask... I'll help you through it."
But you don't wait for me to ask; you just get up and do it!
I can't think of anything in life that I could more wisely do
Than know a friend, and be a friend, and treasure one... like you.

What Makes Life Good

"Having a place to go - is a home.  Having someone to love - is a family.  Having both - is a blessing."
~ Donna Hedges

What is a family? Well, Google says that family is the basic social unit of the society; that family represents people living together by ties of marriage, blood, or adaptation. But for me, they can be not only your parents, they are also the people who are dear, important, and those who take good care of you. People who are always there to support, love you and help you in times of need. You stay together in spite of the all the problems in life.

In this point of view, the family is the group of members who consists of the most important people in our lives. And people who have no families are always lonely because there is no one who is taking care of them. Family is someone you can hold on to. You trust them, they trust you. Having a family makes your life complete. Some have the 'I-don't-care' attitude when it comes to family; but they don't know that those people are the ones who'll support them 'til the end.

Having a family is the greatest blessing you have. Like I said, some don't have one and they are lonely, so treasure your families. They are the ones who can understand you and fight for you.  Just be grateful you have one. I can compare family to gold, they are hard to find yet they are precious and many people treasure them. So love your families and cherish your moments with them while they are still living here in Earth; because the time will come when you're gonna say goodbye...

One of the good things of life that God has given is the family. Parents and children, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and even friends are God's way of making us feel that we have a special place in the world, somewhere that we belong.

"The family.  We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."  ~ Erma Bombeck

Father.

Father's Day.
I was thinking about getting my dad something that he'll appreciate. Well, I asked my mom what to buy or give him, but she answered, "I don't know. It's up to you." But I really want to give him something unique, something that he will treasure for the rest of his life. So on Father's Day, I, or maybe we, haven't gotten him anything. And that made me feel really bad. It's because we owe him a lot already.

My dad is one of the most influential people in my life. He has always been in my life, from the day I opened my eyes up to the present. This person is a teacher, a guide and a source of strength and support. He is whom I look up to with pride, trust, and respect. A man with a very generous heart and has a willing hand to help others in times of need. Sometimes, he has a harsh tone; but most of the time, he is always happy and has a sense of humor.

Then I realized that I can make everyday Father's Day. By just doing anything that pleases him. Like doing your daily chores without him asking, preparing breakfast for him, hugging and kissing him on the cheek before leaving for school, and coming back. We don't need to treat him only on Father's Day, but in every day of our lives; while he is still here. We should always tell him that we love him--and that means so much to him already.

Fathers inspire us to be the best of what we already are.

A FATHER'S LOVE

A father is respected because
he gives his children leadership...
appreciated because
he gives his children care...
valued because
he gives his children time...
loved because
he gives his children the one thing
they treasure most - himself.

Junior High

Summer is just the days that we enjoy and cherish to be with our family and friends. Just relaxing and not always being in a rush is what summer vacation is all about. But as time goes by, we notice that our "happy" days disappear little by little...

Then I kept thinking a lot about the upcoming school year. I begin to think about being a Junior. Like, "What's going to happen on the first day?" "Are the third year teachers strict?" "Am I going to have harmonious relationships with my classmates, or not?" Many questions came in my mind and I just became nervous about what's going to happen this school year.

Coming inside the classroom, we arranged our things and sat quietly while waiting for the adviser to tell us what to do. I've heard students say that Ma'am May is a strict person. Like, really strict and scary, or strict but nice? Questions came racing in my mind. "Is Ma'am May a really strict teacher or an outgoing one?" I also expected and hoped that the others teachers were not scary.
But when as the discussion went on, I realized that Ma'am May was really fun to be with. She explained the Dos and the Don'ts in the classroom and that she is strict in the cleanliness and the arrangements in the room.
She has a lot of sense of humor and so are the other subject teachers. And I also thought of her as an approachable person.

Knowing my classmates' attitudes is not quite a challenge for me, since I know a lot of them already. But what I do expect of them is to just be themselves and have fun inside and outside of the classroom. I really enjoyed the first two weeks of school and I just hope that it would be like that until the rest of the school year.

But I just kept thinking that this was just only the beginning. I think that this year will be harder and more challenging. More homework, assignments and projects. And tons of pressure. But I think that this school year will be lots and lots of fun.
