Intramurals-- Helpful or Not?

Are sports activities in schools, or we usually call "intramurals" helpful to us students? Sports activities help students in a lot of ways. Like...

In a physical way: Sports activities encourage students to engage in sports and to be physically fit. These activities make the students stronger and healthier. These will help the students in removing the extra fat or carbohydrates from their bodies by participating and being active in the field of sports. Events like these contribute a lot the the physical fitness and wellness of a student.

In a mental way: Not only can sports activities make a student physically fit and healthy, but sports activities can also enhance the mental capacity of the brain. Sports can enhance the brain by making the student/s think of strategies or ways in which they can win against the other team/s. For example, in basketball, the players must find a way to catch up on their points. Sports also contribute to the mental alertness. Sports are not all about physical abilities but are also about the mental abilities of students.

In a social and emotional way: Students learn to socialize, deal and cooperate with one another through sports. For example, in a sack race, the students must help each other in arranging the team in order, whether it is from the slowest to the fastest, etc. We also learn a lot from sports like camaraderie, teamwork, and the most important, sportsmanship. Activities like this can also shape our emotions towards our successes and failures.

Intramurals may just last a few days. But, even if it's just for a couple of days, we students learn a lot from it, which we can apply to our daily lives.
